Broome Street Academy (BSA) is a tuition-free public charter high school partnered with and located at The Door, a nationally renowned multi-service youth development organization located in lower Manhattan. This unique partnership results in a blended program of academics and social supports designed to successfully serve New York City’s most vulnerable students, including those who are homeless or in foster care. Combined with small group instruction, daily academic enrichment opportunities, extended periods for individualized tutoring, and a personal advisor, each student receives highly customized educational support, designed to help him or her excel. In addition, all students have access to The Door’s wide range of free services, located under the same roof, including: primary health care and education; mental health counseling and crisis assistance; legal representation, advice and advocacy; GED and ESOL classes; tutoring, homework help and college preparation services; career development; job training and placement; supportive housing; arts, sports and recreational activities; and nutritious meals.
